About AC Cesena

AC Cesena (also known as Associazione Calcio Cesena, Cavallucci Marini or simply Cesena) is a professional Italian football club which competes in the highest division of Italian football; Serie A. AC Cesena holds its home matches at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi, a football stadium capable of holding holds 23,860 spectators.

AC Cesena was founded in 1940 and after 28 years achieved promotion to Serie B in 1968. Four years later, AC Cesena achieved promotion to Serie A in 1973 after competing in Serie B for 5 years. After a quite successful period in Serie A which included qualifying for the UEFA Cup, AC Cesena failed to secure its remaining in Serie A and was relegated after the 1976/77 season.

AC Cesena returned to the top flight in 1981 but relegated again 2 years later to spend 4 years in Serie B. The team returned to Serie A for the 1987/88 where it competed until relegated in 1991 to Serie B; 6 years late, the team was relegated to Serie C1.

It was only in the 2005/06 season in Serie B when AC Cesena finished league, Cesena finished in the 6th place and achieved promotion to Serie A and competed there for the two following seasons before being relegated at the end of the 2007/08 season.

At the end of the 2009/10 season, AC Cesena achieved promotion back to Serie A for the 2010/11 season.
