About US Boulogne
US Boulogne (also known as Union Sportive de Boulogne-sur-Mer Côte d'Opale) is a professional French football team which plays in France's top football division, Ligue 1. US Boulogne was founded in 1898 but became a professional club only in 1932. The team home matches are held at the Stade de la Libération stadium.
In 1957, US Boulogne was re-elected into Division Two and played in that division until 1979 when the clubs suffered from consecutive relegations and eventually reached Division Four.
In 1983, US Boulogne managed to stabilize in the Fourth Division and achieve promotion in 1991. This promotion didn't last long and relegation was soon to follow.
In 1994, an announcement was made about US Boulogne being in serious debt and the city mayor intervened to save the club. The mayor wiped US Boulogne debts and appointed a new chairman who brought new spirit to assist the recovery of the club. US Boulogne club began a slow recovery process and eventually achieved promotion to Ligue 2 for the 2007/08 season. The club has barley managed to avoid relegation down when scoring in the 95th minute at the end of the season.
In the following 2008/09 season US Boulogne proved great improvement and achieved another promotion, this time it was to Ligue 1. US Boulogne News
