About FC Koln
FC Koln (also known as "1. FC Koln", FC Koeln or simply Koln) is a professional German football club which competes in the highest division of German football; the Bundesliga. FC Koln holds it home matches at the RheinEnergieStadion stadium (Rhein Energie Stadion), a football stadium with the capacity of 50,374 people.
FC Koln was founded in 1948 and was enjoying success. In 1963, when the Budesliga was formed; FC Koln was one of the original 16 team members of the Bundesliga. FC Koln kept being successful and became the first Bundesliga champion in its first year. In 1978, FC Koln won both national championship and national cup. FC Koln kept being successful until in the beginning of the 1990s the club's performance fell and FC Koln started alipping down until being relegated for the first time in 1998.
Following the relegation, FC Koln entered a bouncing period in which the team was moving between the first and second divisions. In 2008, with coach Christoph Daum back with the team; FC Koln succeeded in achieving promotion back to the Bundesliga. FC Koln News
