About Montpellier HSC
Montpellier HSC (also known as Herault Sport Club or simply Montpellier) is a professional French football club based in Montpellier, France and competes in the highest division of French football; Ligue 1. Montpellier HSC holds its home matches at the Stade de la Mosson; a football stadium in Montpellier with a capacity of 32,900 people.
Montpellier HSC was founded in 1919 as an amateur football team until turning professional in 1932, after being a Coupe de France finalist in 1931. In 1946, Montpellier HSC won the Ligue 2 championship for the first time in its history.
In 1961, Montpellier HSC won the Ligue 2 championship for the second time; in 1987, Montpellier HSC won the Ligue 2 championship for the third time and just three years later; Montpellier HSC won the Coupe the France in 1990.
Two years later, Montpellier HSC won the Coupe de la Ligue in 1992 and was Coupe de France finalist in 1994. 6 years later, Montpellier HSC won the Intertoto Cup in 1999.
Montpellier HSC achieved promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2010/11 season despite finishing the 2009/10 season in the 5th place. Montpellier HSC also qualified for the 2010/11 season's Europa League as well Montpellier HSC News
