About AS Bari

Bari (also known as AS Bari or Associazione Sportiva Bari) is an Italian football club that was founded in 1908, Bari is based in Bari, Apulia and have bounced during many seasons between the top two divisions of Italian football, Serie A and Serie B. Bari is the most successful club from the Apulia region, the team is among amongst the elite teams of southern Italian football. Bari has won the Mitropa in 1990. In 1996, Bari has achieved one of the greatest achievements in its history when Bari's forward Igor Protti was the Top scorer in Serie A after scoring 25 goals.

For Bari, the 1930s and 1940s were a golden age which was mostly spent in the Italian Serie A. In the 50's Bari experienced a sharp declining followed by an equal, rapid recovery towards the end of the decade in which Bari spent 3 more years in Serie A between 1958 and 1961.

Bari returned to Serie A twice again in the 1960's in the 1963-64 season and in the 1969-70 season. In the 1969-70 season, Bari scored only 11 goals. A very low number comparing to any other top flight club and in 1974 Bari was relegated to Serie C. Bari finished the 1974 season with not more than a dozen goals in 38 games.

Towards the end of the 1970's, Bari was successful in finding its way back to Serie A and except the 1982 season, Bari has maintained its place in Serie A until being relegated to Serie B in 1985. Bari was promoted back to Serie A in 1989 but relegated back in 1992.

Bari was managed to get promoted back again to Serie A in 1994 for two years, relegated and promoted back again to Serie A in 1997 with emerging of promising young players.
