About Blackpool FC
Blackpool FC (also known as Blackpool Football Club, The Seasiders, The Pool or simply Blackpool) is a professional English football club based in Blackpool, Lancashire and plays in the top division of English football; the Premier League. Blackpool FC holds its home matches at the12,255 spectators capable Bloomfield Road stadium.
In the 1970s, Blackpool FC bounced between the top flight and Division three; at the end of the 1981/82 season Blackpool slipped as low as division four. It was only in the 1991/92 season when Blackpool FC managed to achieve promotion to the new Division Two.
Blackpool had a hard time during its first seasons in the third tier and after years of trying and replacing many managers; Blackpool was relegated to the Third Division. With Steve McMahon as the new manager, Blackpool began to improve and achieved promotion back to Divison Two and also won the football league trophy in 2001.
In the 2006/07 season, Blackpool FC finally achieved promotion to the Championship and finished the following season 2 points away from relegation. Blackpool FC finished the 2008/09 season in the 16th place and instantly began looking for new key players for the following season.
Blackpool FC got better in the 2009/10 season and reached the 6th place by the end of the season and earned promotion to the Premier League thanks to defeating Cardiff City in the Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium. The team's appearance in the Premier League would be its first appearance in the English football's top flight in nearly 40 years. Blackpool FC News
