About Livorno

AS Livorno (also known as Associazione Sportiva Livorno Calcio, Amaranto or Labronici) is a professional Italian football club based in Livorno and plays in the highest division of Italian football; Serie A.

AS Livorno was founded in 1915 and bounced between the national leagues until achieving promotion to Serie C in 1997. A couple of years later, Livorno was acquired by Aldo Spinelli and achieved promotion to Serie B in 2001.

Livorno played in Serie B until achieving promotion to Serie A in the 2003/04 season after 55 years of absence; expectations were that relegation back to Serie B was soon to come but team proved great performance and surprisingly finished at the 9th position in the 2004/05 season.

In the middle of the 2005/06 season, AS Livorno was in the 6th place when the team's coach resigned and the team's performance got worst. In the 2006/07 season, AS Livorno participated in the UEFA Cap for the first time in its history.

In the 2007/08 season, AS Livorno showed some positive performance but remained at the bottom of the league table and was eventually relegated to Serie B where the team finished the 2008/09 season in the 3rd place.

AS Livorno returned to Serie A after winning promotion play-offs but finished at the bottom of the table and therefore relegated back to Serie B.
