About Levante UD

Levante UD (also known as Levante Union Deportiva, Llevant Unio Esportiva or simply Levante) is a professional Spanish football club based in Valencia and competes in the highest division of Spanish football; the La Liga. Levante UD holds its home matches at the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia stadium which holds 25,534 and was built in 1969.

Levante UD was formed in 1909 but it was only in 1963 when the team competed in La Liga for the first time in its history and remained there for two seasons before being relegated. Levante UD returned to the top flight after the second division in the 2003/04 season but this promotion has short lived and Levante UD was relegated back after one season only.

Levante UD achieved another promotion to the La Liga after finishing in the 3rd place at the 2005/06 season and competed there in to following two seasons. By the end of the 2007/08 season, Levante UD had severe financial problems and huge debts that led the team to bad performance followed by a relegation to the second level for the 2008/09 season.

After the financial problems were resolved, Levante UD has managed to achieve promotion back to the La Liga for the 2010/11 season.
