About PSV Eindhoven
PSV Eindhoven (also known as Philips Sport Vereniging, PSV) is a professional Dutch football club based in Eindhoven, Netherlands. PSV Eindhoven was founded in 1913 and was very successful since then.
In 1988, PSV Eindhoven won the European Cup for the first time in its history. In both 1990/91 and 1991/92 seasons, PSV Eindhoven won the Dutch league but didn't achieve progress in the European competitions. It took PSV Eindhoven several years to improve until achieving a finish in the 2nd place and reaching the quarter-finals of the European Cup.
The 1996/97 was a great success for PSV Eindhoven and the team was crowned as champions. After the successful World Cup in 1998, many of PSV Eindhoven's key players were transferred and the team started the following 1998/99 with a new squad. PSV Eindhoven managed to finish in the 3rd place and qualify for the Champions League.
In the 2004/05 season, PSV Eindhoven reached the knockout stage of the Champions League for the first time in its history before being eliminated by Inter Milan. In the following 2005/06 season, PSV Eindhoven reached the knockout stage of the Champions League for the second time but was eliminated by Ajax.
PSV won the Eredivisie (highest football league in the Netherlands) in the 2006/07 season and also qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage for the third time in a row.
In 2008, PSV Eindhoven won the Dutch Super Cup but despite starting well, the team had poor performance in the Champions League. As a a result, PSV Eindhoven was eliminated from European football before the winter for the first time since 2002. PSV Eindhoven News
