About FC Sochaux
FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (also known as Football Club Sochaux-Montbéliard or Sochaux-Montbéliard) is a French football team based in Montbéliard. Sochaux-Montbéliard is a member of Ligue 1 (France top-flight). Sochaux-Montbéliard was founded in 1928 as a worker team of the Peugeot motor car factory; in the following years, the team became more professional and attracted talented players from other European countries. This helped Sochaux-Montbéliard to become the first professional football club in France.
In its early years, Sochaux-Montbéliard was a very successful team and even won the Division 1 title in 1935 and 1938. In 1937, Sochaux-Montbéliard won its Coupe de France.
In the following years, Sochaux-Montbéliard diminished from the top flight towards the middle of the table and although Sochaux-Montbéliard was rarely relegated to the second division of the French Ligue, it was only in the 2004 Coupe de la Ligue when Sochaux-Montbéliard won a major trophy.
Following Sochaux-Montbéliard success in 2004, the team has finished in the top half of the Ligue 1 table and even competed in the UEFA Cup, Sochaux-Montbéliard also acquired the French Cup in 2007.
Sochaux-Montbéliard success made the team notable and recognized as one of the best sources for young talent in France. FC Sochaux
