About Monaco
AS Monaco (also known as Monaco or Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club) is a football team which is as its name describes, based in Monaco. AS Monaco plays in French league 1 and considered as one of the most successful in French football, As Monaco is the only football team in French football which is based outside of French, in the principality of Monaco. AS Monaco has won more than 6 league titles as well as more than 4 Coupe de France trophies. The traditional of the AS Monaco football club are white and red, it is because of these colors that Monaco is also known as Les Rouge et Blanc (French for The Red and Whites).
AS Monaco became associated with the French football in 1933 after it was invited by the French football association. Over the years, Monaco has succeeded in becoming professional and found its place in the French first division.
In the early 80's, AS Monaco enjoyed a great success series in the national competitions and has won a title every other year. Among the titles AS Monaco has won were the Coupe the France in 1980 and 1985, the French Championship in 1982 and Coupe de France Finalist in 1984. AS Monaco is well known for winning Bordeaux 9:0 during the 1985-1986 season, this victory is one of the biggest victories in the history of the AS Monaco football club.
However, the great success AS Monaco had in the French football remained within the borders of France and AS Monaco could not reproduce this success in the European football contests outside France.
