About Stade Rennais F.C Stade Rennais (also known as Stade Rennais Football Club, Stade Rennais FC, Rennes or Stade Rennais F.C.) is a professional French football club based in Rennes, French and plays in France's top league; Ligue 1 for more than 54 seasons. Stade Rennais was founded in 1901 and bounced between the French football leagues many times until stabilizing in the top-flight in 1993 and playing in the top division since that year. The club's home matches are held at the Stade de la Route de Lorient (Lorient Road stadium) which is a 31,127 seat stadium. The stadium was inaugurated in 1912 and rebuilt in 2001. In 1998, Stade Rennais was bought by a business man who gave the club a strong financial stability which helped the club to acquire new players.
