Paris Saint-Germain (also known as Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, Paris Saint-Germain, Paris SG, PSG, Les Rouge-et-Bleu or Les Parisiens) is a professional French football club based in Paris and plays in France's highest football division; Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain was formed in 1970 from the merging of two football teams after 20,000 subscriptions from individuals interested in having an elite football club in Paris. The team is playing in Ligue 1 since 1974 and won various titles and trophies since. Paris Saint Germain's home matches are held at the Parc des Princes stadium which is the 3rd largest stadium in france with nearly 50,000 seats.
Paris Saint-Germain players wear blue shirts with a red central vertical bar framed by white edgings the club's logo consists of a red silhouette of the Eiffel Tower with the royal white cradle of Louis XIV underneath it and a blue background. Paris Saint-Germain is the third richest club in France and is very popular.
Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de France and in 1986, the team won the Ligue 1 crown and had the doors to European football open. The team kept proving great performance and achieved higher results; between 1992 and 1998, Saint-Germain contested 2 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup finals and won it in 1996. The team also won many other titles and trophies.
Paris Saint-Germain had great performance until the 2004/05 season; by the end of that season the team finished at the 9th place and didn't improve in the following seasons.
