About Borussia Dortmund Borussia Dortmund (also known as BV Borussia Dortmund) is a professional German football club which is one of the most success football clubs in Germany. Borussia Dortmund won more than 4 German football championships, 2 German Cup victories, UEFA Champions League and others. Borussia Dortmund was founded in 1909 and had only modest success playing in first years. However, when the German Bundesliga was formed in 1963, the team earned its place among the first teams who played in the highest division after winning the last pre-Bundesliga championship. 2 years later in 1965, Borussia Dortmund won its first German Cup. In 2002, Borussia Dortmund won its third Bundesliga title but lost the 2002 UEFA Cup final. Financial problems stroke the club again and in the following seasons, Borussia Dortmund had to sell many players and replace several coaches. In the 2006/07 season, the team narrowly avoided relegation. The following 2007/08 season was no better than the previous one but in the 2009/10 season, signs of recovering appeared. In the 2009/10 season Borussia Dortmund finished in the 5th place and for the UEFA Cup . Although the team missed the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League, it was clear to see that Borussia Dortmund is back on track for the 2010/11 season.
