About Hertha Berlin

Hertha BSC (also known as Hertha Berliner Sport Club, Hertha Berlin, Die Alte Dame, The Blue-Whites or simply Hertha) is a professional German football club based in Berlin which competes in the top division of German football; the Bundesliga.

During the 1970s, Hertha BSC was quite successful but by the end of 1979 the team slipped down and eventually relegated to the Second Bundesliga. The team bounced between the top-flight and the third tier until achieving promotion to the Bundesliga in 1997 and finishing the season in the upper part of the table. In 1999, a continuous string of appearances in international play began for Hertha BSC in the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

In the 2003/04 season, Hertha BSC had poor performance but the team has managed to improve towards the end of the season and finish the 2004/05 season in the 4th place.

In the following 2005/06 season, Hertha BSC finished in the 6th place. After defeating FK Moskva in the Intertoto Cup, the team qualified for the UEFA Cup but was eliminated in the first round. In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, Hertha BSC finished at the 10th place.

In the 2008/09 season, Hertha BSC was successful and finished in the 4th place but had a very poor season in 2009/10 in which the team has finished at the very bottom of the Bundesliga.
