Alexandre Pato has welcomed new AC Milan teammates Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Rossoneri have always looked to Brazilians and added to the list with the deadline day transfer from Manchester City.

“I am very happy that Robinho is joining us, even if we haven’t yet talked about Milan,” said Pato on international duty.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic also arrived from Barcelona, joining Ronaldinho and Pippo Inzaghi.

“Competition is not a problem, as we must all give our absolute best this season,” continued Pato.

“We are a great squad and will try to go all the way both in Serie A and the Champions League.”

 Prandelli delighted with Italy performance of Sampdoria star Cassano

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli was delighted with Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano on Friday.

Cassano was famously frozen out by Marcello Lippi, but scored a goal and set up another in last night’s 2-1 win over Estonia.

“Cassano is an example for everyone who wants to play for the Nazionale,” said Coach Prandelli.

“He was out of the loop, but he fought hard and got back in. I am certain he can do much more than he already did against Estonia.

“Quality in a side is essential, as the team needs that to feel more confident and score goals. Without good feet, we won’t get far.”

 Mexes casts doubt on long-term Roma future

Philippe Mexes has again cast doubt on his long-term future with AS Roma.

The signing of Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso has Mexes concerned over his playing chances.

“Burdisso has returned to Roma and it's obvious that the competition has increased,” Mexes said.

“I risk playing little and my contract is set to expire. Right now, I am seriously considering if it's worth prolonging it.

“If I don't get any space in the first half of the season, I could also think about not renewing it. A lot will depend on Blanc's decisions.

“If I were to be in his plans, I would be forced to make a decision - leaving Roma to play or staying in the capital where I have been for a very long time.

“I have to consider many things, like for example, the fact I am 28 and I want to play for France at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.”

 Coutinho assures Inter Milan fans he is all business

Inter Milan starlet Philippe Coutinho has assured fans he will keep his head down and avoid the local nightlife.

The 18-year-old joined Inter this summer, finally completing a move from Vasco da Gama in a deal which was initially done in 2008.

Coutinho said: “I don’t go to discos. I haven’t drunk beer or alcohol and I don’t even have any tattoos. I find happiness through other things.

“My mum is looking for a church in Milan where we can go during the year. Every Sunday in which I didn’t play in Brazil, we’d go to mass together.

“God is in my heart. He has accompanied me since the day I was born. I owe my first call up to the Brazil squad to him.”

 AC Milan signing Robinho: Barcelona wanted me

AC Milan signing Robinho admits Barcelona also wanted to sign him.

Robinho was a transfer deadline day arrival at San Siro, but he was originally set to replace rather than partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He said: “It’s true that Barcelona were asking for me. With Milan we understood each other right away and I feel at home, thanks in part to the many Brazilians who are already here.

“We have such a strong side and in attack we’re amazing. I would very much like to play the Champions League Final against Barcelona.

“We’ve got to try to win every competition that we take part in.”

 Roma captain Totti rules out coaching

Francesco Totti has no idea what he'll do when he hangs up the boots at AS Roma.

Totti retired from the Italy squad after the World Cup in 2006, but is still going strong in Serie A.

He said: “I have never considered what I’ll do when I retire. I don’t even dream of it at night. I still feel like a football player.

“The day I realise I’m not myself anymore and can no longer do on the pitch what I can do now, then I’ll be the first to throw in the towel.

“I don’t want to end up on the bench, the kind of person who plays 10 games per season. As soon as I feel that I am no longer Totti, I’ll step aside from everything.

“Of course, I hope that doesn’t happen for a long time.”

 Fiorentina fear Arsenal interest unsettling Montolivo

Fiorentina have concerns over losing Arsenal target Riccardo Montolivo.

The Viola had been set to sign a contract extension with their captain when he suddenly pulled out of talks to think things over.

That may well be due to reported interest from the likes of Inter and Arsenal.

“I repeat that we have no intention of losing the player, especially as we have never received any offers for him,” director of sport Pantaleo Corvino told Sky Sport Italia.

“We believed in his qualities right from when he was a kid and because we trust in his future, we offered a five-year contract extension.

“His agent has made certain requests of an economic nature over the last few days.”

 Miccoli excited about Palermo prospects

Fabrizio Miccoli is excited about what lies ahead for Palermo this season.

Last term the Rosanero finished in fifth place behind Sampdoria and will not let those ambitions drop.

Miccoli said: “Everything is possible and we have a great squad. We all dream of repeating what we did last season and doing even better.

“Winning a trophy would be the most wonderful thing of all, so I and my teammates will give everything to achieve that.

Juventus are ready to open new contract talks with Claudio Marchisio.

Tuttosport says a meeting has been set up between director general Beppe Marotta and agent Carlo Pallavicino.

Juventus released a statement a few weeks ago pointing out his contract didn’t expire until 2014, so there was no rush to engage in talks.

The agent of Fabio Quagliarella has defended the striker's move to Juventus.

Napoli fans protested when their hometown club hero opted to leave the Stadio San Paolo in the final days of the transfer window.

“Everyone has their share of the responsibility in this affair, just as Fabio said recently,” agent Beppe Bozzo told Il Mattino newspaper.

“He takes 30 per cent, the rest goes to the clubs and the Coach. It’s obvious that without everyone’s consent after Juve made the offer, this move could not have gone through.

“We need to see a bit more honesty. Fabio is not a traitor, nor a hypocrite.”

 Malesani impressed by attitude inside Bologna squad

Alberto Malesani can feel enthusiasm inside the Bologna squad.

Malesani was drafted in this week, as Franco Colomba was sacked less than 48 hours before the season opener against Inter.

"I found a great squad that works with enthusiasm and a perfect mix between youth and experience,” said Malesani.

“The people here work intensely and I hope this attitude is to be considered the norm. The enthusiasm starts from the club right down to the fans.

“In that sense it’s very similar to the atmosphere at Fiorentina, where many supporters watch the training sessions and that affection fires you up a little more.”

 Preziosi admits Genoa could have signed Roma midfielder Baptista

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi admits they passed on the chance of signing AS Roma midfielder Julio Baptista.

The Rossoblu were the kings of the transfer market with a series of big summer signings, but there were almost even more.

Preziosi said: “On the afternoon of deadline day we had the option of picking up Baptista from Roma, but overall I think we did what we wanted to within our capabilities.”

 Genoa president Preziosi blasts players union

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has slammed the local players' union for wrecking the game.

Preziosi says clubs have been treated poorly since the union have gained increased power.

He said: “I think over the past few years players have consolidated this culture of being owed something rather than them having a sense of duty towards the clubs.

“The Players’ Association ought to carefully evaluate the needs of the clubs too. I’d hate to see the unions force businesses into closing down with unreasonable behaviour. They need to act as a go-between.

“We had a similar situation with Anthony Vanden Borre. He already had an agreement with Lecce and was choosing his house by the sea when he stepped outside into his car for a minute and ran away.

“We too will try to take his case to the authorities, but if the unions defend these sorts of absurd rights, then everything will fall apart.”

 Roma captain Totti not thinking of retirement

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti insists he has no thoughts of retirement.

The Roma legend is now 34 and has been linked with Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United, but will see out his career with his hometown club.

“I never regretted staying in my city and the team I always supported,” he told La Repubblica newspaper.

“It wasn’t easy, as there are pros and cons to this situation. I have the advantage of knowing everything, down to every blade of grass, of this environment.

“I also have the disadvantage of always being the centre of attention. But I am proud of my choice, which was made with the heart and the head.”
